In a different world, where magic is real, animals talk and technology comes packed in tiny capsules, a strange little monkey boy sets out on an adventure of epic proportions, to recover seven mystical crystal balls, that when assembled, summon a powerful dragon capable of granting any wish (one at a time). on his journey, he's accompanied by an obnoxious teenage girl, a talking pig, a handsome bandit and a cute flying cat. His dream, is to become the greatest fighter in the universe, saving the world every now and then, defeating dangerous foes, and meeting interesting friends on the way.
This, is Dragonball, a manga series created by Toriyama Akira, and it's anime adaption. Not necessarily the best, but doubtlessly the most important work in it's genre, inspiring Jump's three flagship series, and pretty much setting the standards for fighting manga and anime.
I recently finished the plain Dragonball (with Hungarian dubbing, which pretty much sucked, since it was re-dubbed from French) and moved on to Z. The fillers pretty much killed it for me though, so I picked up Kai instead, but I still keep watching Z, with original voices and WHITHOUT any subtitles just to practice the language. I'm making progress.
Devious Comments
There is more then a few details from that show which showed up in Dragonball. Granted both retell the legendary story "Journey To The West", but the added elements in Dragonball owe a lot to Monkey!
