Tech support

"Uhm... hello? ... Tech Support?"
"Yes, what can I help you with?"
"Uhm... I have a problem."
"Yes?"
"I need some advice..."
"Go on."
"I downloaded a file yesterday."
"And?"
"And it was a CD immage. And the detailes said it's 680 Megabytes, and 180 Kilobytes are corrupted, but I unzipped it ... cuse my WinRar can unzip ISO files for some reason... and I installed it. And I think I was not supposed to."
"Hmm. I think there was an error while you downloaded the file. You may need to try again, or the program will not work properly."
"But I installed it and it's working."
"I see. Looks like no vital parts were damaged. If the program is running then there's no problem."
"But I spoke to a friend and she said it's a virus."
"That's unlikely. I mean it IS possible. Happened to me a few times, but it may not be the case."
"I ran a virus scan on it. I mean the folder, where I unzipped the ISO file. ANd the game folder. And it found nothing."
"Oh. Then there's no problem."
"Well, the problem is... my virus scanner is out of date. For the past two months it keeps giving me an 'Incorrect User Name or Password' message."
"Sounds like the license has expired. You'll need to buy a new one."
"And where can I do that?"
"Oh? there are several places. Even our company is selling them. 100 RON a year."
"OK. I'll be checking the folder on another computer for viruses. This one has an up to date scanner."
"Sounds like a good idea. But I don't think there'll be a problem."
"Thanks. You know, there's this thing I heard about a new virus running loose in China or Japan, and this is a Japanese game, so I was a little worried."
"You really shouldn't think too hard about that particullar virus. Things like this happen every day."
"OK, if you say so. Well, thanks for helping. Are you sure there will be no problem?"
"I'm pretty certain. Though a second scan won't hurt."
"I'll do that. Thanks again for the help. I feel much better now."
"No problem. And if you have any other questions, you know who to call."
"Yeah thanks. Bye."
"Bye.--------- Heh. Kids."
Yeah. Laugh all you want. But this is still almost the same conversation I had with the Maintenence Guy a few hours ago. It was like talking to a psychologist. I felt a lot better after that. Guess what? My psychological well-being now depends on my PC's health. If it's slow, I'm down. When it's infected, I freak out. If it's shipped to Maintenence I'm stressed. If I get rid of tons of old unused files, or after a defragmentation, I feel relieved. But this was the top of everything.
If this ain't one of the weirdest cases of Computer-Addiction, then I'll eat my pants.
