DA's socialist revolution by ~BTIsaac:iconBTIsaac:

[Request: I'm getting tired of people faving this on a weekly basis, so I ask anyone who wishes to add this to their favorites to look through the entire gallery, and add at least one more of my deviations along with it. If you can't find other deviations to your liking, DO NOT FAV THIS ONE.]

The winds of change has finally reached DeviantArt. The dictatorial reign of fan artists and talented people is coming to an end with the introduction of the new system. For too long was DeviantArt ruled by people who were either far more talented than others or drew too many fanart. These people took all the attention from the common folk. Becoming popular, took a lot of effort, and once someone achieved it, his popularity began to increase exponentially.

Now is no longer the case. Time is changing, and the ascension of the no-talent hacks has finally began. No longer must one toil hard and put effort in their work to achieve recognition. And no longer must one draw Naruto to draw attention to themselves. Attention whores, no talent hacks and bad comedians have been granted equal chances with those who are far above them. No longer must we look up to to those better than us, for we will all be equals. Lame animated GIFs, overdone political jokes and low quality sketches will also have a chance to shine in popularity. Yes. The socialist revolution has finally come to DA.

What is a socialist revolution you ask? allow me to demonstrate. See this cane here? Good. It has three parts. This silver grip represents the ruling class. Talented people, anime-style artists and people who draw fanart all fit into this category.  The wooden part here represents the middle class. Aspiring artists who are struggling hard to earn recognition, or promising newcomers who want to share their art with the world. Poor fools. And there is this lowest part here. This dirty little piece of rubber represents all the scum and crap that exists at the bottom of DA. Crappy sketchers, no talent hacks and boring comedians, who would never get any attention at all, forever be forced to thread in the shadows of the ruling classes. Now comes the socialist revolution. What was once on the bottom, now goes on the top. What was on the top will be tossed into obscurity, and the masses of DeviantArt will finally see that which they never could've seen. Because true art is no longer about talent. Nor is it about drawing something popular. We live in a modern world, where the talented are equal with the talentless.

New times are coming. A specter is haunting DeviantArt. The specter of Fair Exposure. No-talent-hacks of DeviantArt have nothing to lose but their obscurity. They have a website to win. Untalented men of DeviantArt, UNITE!

Author's Comments

PLEASE READ: I added a short notice for future readers. From now on, anyone who wishes to fav this must fav at least one more of my deviations. Othervise just ignore this. If I keep getting more favs for this Deviation while the rest of my works (most of which took significantly more time and effort to make) remain ignored, This Deviation will be moved to the scraps, and eventually deleted. If this stupid article is the only reason people even care to look my way, then I'm better off without it.

Yeah. So I figured DeviantArt's new Fair Exposure system is a lot like communism, hence the Karl Marx quote at the end.

Seriously. I understand the intentions here. And while I am a big fan of Teruchan [link] I do believe there are other artists who deserve just as much attention. But when I see stuff like stick figures humping a 'Your Mom' sign, it makes me sad. (The guy who did that was just banned for art thievery, but :iconalexiuss: mentions the case here: [link] )
Even if the new system would boost my pageviews, I wouldn't like it. I want to earn my own popularity, instead of having the DA crew make me into mister celebrity, and to be frank, I believe that is all the Fair Exposure is all about.

haha, very clever parallel
but i think we don't go far enough, we should kill off all the talented as well

I very much agree with your comment... One of the best things about the old system was the satisfaction gained when you earned favourites, pageviews and the front page... :+fav:

98% of Deviants don't know the difference between "your" and "you're." If you're one of the 2% that wants to punch 'em, put this in your sig.

If by this you mean the "artwork" featuring a stick figure and the 'your mom' sign, then yes.
